Meet Ellen Whitaker 

 

 

Ellen’s busy schedule attending competitions around the world and flying the flag for team GBR mean that returning to her home town in Barnsley, South Yorkshire is a rare treat.  Not only are we proud that Ellen is a fellow Yorkshire lass, we are chuffed to bits she’s coming to visit R & R Country and meet her Yorkshire fans. 

 

As a show jumper Ellen is currently ranked 13th in the UK and is working hard to achieve her goal of attending the 2012 Olympics. As a member of the CSIO5* Nations Cup Team she has recently returned from United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi where she was riding Equimax Ocolado for the event. 

 

Coming from the famous Whitaker family, Ellen is the daughter of Steven Whitaker and niece of international riders John and Michael. She has built a team of eight highly talented horses and famously bought Locarno for a million Euros in 2005 making him the most expensive horse to be imported into the UK at the time. She has had sport in her blood from birth as she began to ride when she was only a toddler, started competing internationally in her teens and is now known as Britain’s Leading Lady Rider.
